The NYC Faith Sector Climate Adaptation Working Group seeks to select NYC faith leaders, lay or clergy, who represent a broad range of traditions, cultures and NYC boroughs to work together, alongside climate specialists, to build their capacity to communicate with their constituencies about climate hazards, disaster preparedness, and long-term climate adaptation planning. The working group goals are to:
- LEARN: Visit with faith communities and climate specialists to learn first-hand about the needs and challenges related to climate-driven hazards facing local NYC communities.
- COLLABORATE: Exchange knowledge to catalyze faith sector collaboration around climate adaptation & disaster preparedness.
- COMMUNICATE: Inform the creation of a faith sector tool kit to communicate climate risk and solutions to diverse faith communities.

- Actively collaborate in the working group.
- Participate in a half-day in-person kickoff meeting and 6 regularly scheduled in-person working group meetings that will take place between April and September 2025.
- Share learnings and findings with your community.
The capacity of this faith leader working group will be limited to 15-20 members.

The deadline to apply to participate in a working group is April 11, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified by April 17th.
We will hold our half-day in-person kickoff lunch meeting on April 24, 2025, 12:00pm-3:00pm. We ask that you keep a hold on your schedules in case you are selected as a participant.
Working group members will receive a stipend of $300 at the completion of the working group.
