ALAMO SCHOOL VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP SHEET 2016-2017
Alamo School is dependent upon parent volunteers. Some opportunities occur on a regular basis, while some are once or twice during the school year. For those of you that can’t make it to school, there are numerous needs for at-home volunteering. NO experience is required – just enthusiasm! Remember it’s fun to sign up with a friend or two!

Art: Help the school's Art Educator with art projects in the classroom
Computer Technical Support: Computer lab support for technology classes
Earth Day and Recycling: Assist with Earth Day and recycling at school
Ed Fund Grant Committee: Assist in online research and writing of grant requests for the Ed Fund
Family Reading Night: Read your child’s favorite book(s) to students who attend
Health & Safety: Assist with Vision & Hearing tests, the school's Earthquake and Disaster Plan, and other health or safety activities
Hospitality: Provide refreshments at PTA events
Internet Communications: Assist Internet Communications Leads with PTA/school site updates
Legislative Committee: Assist Legislative Representative; write letters, send emails, make phone calls as initiated by Legislative Rep
Library: Assist with re-shelving and assisting students during class library time
Room Parent: Organize class parties, teacher gifts and recruit parent volunteers for class/school events (Room parent role is separate from an in-classroom volunteer, which will be available at Back to School Night)
Sister School Program: Assist with student community service activities organized throughout the year
Yard Duty: Supervise students in grades 1-5 during lunch and noon recesses (11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m). We especially need volunteers for early Fall!
Yearbook: Help with book design, assembly and picture taking (Fall-Spring)

Auction Gala Donation Committee: Connect via email to businesses to request donations for our annual gala (list is provided)
Ed Fund Marketing: Assist with the creation of flyers and online marketing for our annual events
Fall Book Fair: Help with set-up, cash register and take-down
Family Events: Assist with Family Game Night
Field Day: Volunteer at game and snack stations.
Grade/Class Basket Coordinator: Coordinate a special basket for parents in your grade to donate to the annual auction gala.
Hoedown Fall Festival: Assist with this fun event by helping with set-up, take-down, booths and carnival ticket bank
Holiday Shoppe: Help with school's holiday shopping event and gift wrap, work the cash register, make gifts, set up and/or clean up
Kids Generated Art: Coordinate priceless art for the kids in your child’s classroom and work with them on their projects at school  
Make-Up Pictures: 1-2 hour shifts
Red Ribbon Week: Assist with planning, prep, and parental guidance during student activities
Run For Education Committee: Many jobs available, including at-home computer work.
Sign Up Party Coordinators: Assist in generating party ideas and organize parties with hosts
Spring Book Fair: Help with set-up, cash register and take-down
Staff Appreciation: Provide a dish for the PTA lunch during staff appreciation week
Talent Show Committee: Help execute all aspects of the show, including A/V, stage direction, set-up/tear down and rehearsals
