Every block of West Action Village has an interesting history.  Important 19th century influences allowed residential, commercial and manufacturing to thrive.  The arrival of the Fitchburg railroad (1845) with a depot in the center of town, opened up agricultural, commercial, and travel opportunities, What we observe today is only the tip of the historical iceberg.  We had Universalist, Baptist, Catholic and Christian Science churches; blacksmiths, wagonmakers, a cigar manufacturer, and coopers (butter churns) – West Acton is the epitome of a small “village” with a great history.

Tour leader Richard Hilton has been creating and leading walking tours for 25 years.  He developed and leads a current tour of the Boxborough New Town Center and is also an interpreter at the Robbins House Museum in Concord. He has a passion for learning and sharing local history.
