The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) invites motor vehicle dealerships that partner in DMV’s Online Dealer program to participate in a license plate contest to raise money for nonprofit organizations and college scholarships. Between January 3 and March 6, 2023, the dealership that sells the most special license plates that support local causes will win a trophy and the opportunity for a news conference at the dealership.
As you know, Virginians show their support for a variety of causes through the purchase of what we call “revenue-sharing” license plates. A “revenue-sharing” plate is a special license plate design in which some of the annual fee is “shared” with a designated organization selected by the General Assembly. Popular examples include Shenandoah National Park, Virginia Tech and VDOT’s Operation Wildflower.
The dealership that sells the most "revenue-sharing" license plates, thereby raising the most money for nonprofits and college scholarships wins the contest. The winner will be announced in March.
Please use this form to fill out mailing information for the packet of information, flyer, and details about the contest that will be mailed to your dealership.
Thank you for your participation in supporting a number of great causes. Please reach out to Ava Adenauer at ava.adenauer@dmv.virginia.gov if you have any questions.
Together, we can raise a lot of money for Virginia nonprofits and colleges and universities!
