Hot D.A.M! The SMA Freedom and Survival School
Hot D.A.M.! The SMA Freedom and Survival School will shape our visions, strengthen our organizing skills, and deepen our relationships!
Join the Southern Movement Assembly and community members from the region in a 6-month series of focused discussions on Decolonization, Abolition, and Mutual Aid.
In this series, you will learn about the effects of colonialism and Indigenous resistance, abolition and the movement for transformative change, and mutual aid in action. Together we will study the systems we want to dismantle, assess the root causes of our past and present conditions, develop shared visions, and analyze the possibilities for liberated communities.
The study groups will be held by a small group of facilitators and will meet for a two-hour session each month from September through April. The Freedom and Survival School content will include organizing examples, and an intersectional and historical analysis, that is guided by the SMA Principles and 2021 Action Plan.
***Do you have an interest in facilitation? Hot D.A.M Facilitators will be trained by the SMA Organizing Team and will be asked to commit up to 10 hours per month ***
