I understand that Start College Now course approvals are made only if there is no equivalent course offered at any school within Racine Unified School District. *
Students have the right to appeal the Racine Unified School District decision denying a requested course. Appeals must be submitted within 30 days to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. *
Student has been made aware of the Virtual Learning options found in the Virtual Course Catalog on school and district websites. *
Student is in good academic standing and has an acceptable disciplinary record. *
Start College Now course credit will be applied to high school transcript as an elective, reflected on the transcript as pass/fail, but will not be calculated into the student's GPA. *
Student will be awarded .25 high school credits per 1 credit offered by a post-secondary course, provided the student receives a passing grade. *
All conditions must be met for high school credit to be awarded: the post-secondary course is complimentary to, consistent with, or expands on a Racine Unified School District course of study; the post-secondary course expands an opportunity for the student to move to another level of academic or technical course of study; the post-secondary course curriculum meets or exceeds the same standards of rigor and content as the other courses approved by the district; the post-secondary requested course has not been already taken and/or attempted by the student.
Start College Now course requests, although listed by the post-secondary institution, may not be available for register by a high school student. Students and families should contact the post-secondary institution regarding course availability prior to registering. *
Start College Now course requests cannot conflict with the student's high school schedule working toward graduation requirements. *
Racine Unified School District is responsible for the cost of all tuition and any required books or materials for the course. All other costs (supplemental textbooks or workbooks, supplies, parking passes,  etc.) are the responsibility of the student. *
If a student drops, withdraws, fails, or is removed from a course from the post-secondary institution, Racine Unified School District will seek reimbursement for tuition and fees from the student's family. *
Parent/Guardian must consent to the student leaving school to attend Start College Now courses. *
If a student is expelled from a school in the Racine Unified School District, the student will become ineligible to participate in the Start College Now program during the period of expulsion. *
Student cannot be concurrently enrolled (at the same time) in the Early College Credit Program courses. *
Students transferring out of Racine Unified School District prior to the start of or during the term listed on the Start College Now application form will be responsible for tuition, book, and equipment fees and payments, or will be billed if payment has been made by Racine Unified School District. *
Upon district approval of requested courses, the student is responsible for connecting with the Institution of Higher Education (IHE ) to meet all application and registration processes and requirements to begin the approved courses. *
Student/parent are responsible for any transportation costs for attending the course(s). *
