Data Scholars Program Application
The Data Science Education Program invites you to apply to the Data Scholars program. Data Scholars provides a community where students from many disciplines and backgrounds learn together and develop their skills in Data Science. Students receive support in introductory Data Science courses, mentorship, and guidance to succeed in the field through project work, community with other Scholars, and pathways to get involved with Data Science research and teaching.

The program consists of two branches: one, for students taking Data 8 concurrently during the semester of acceptance, and another for students that have already completed Data 8 and would like to remain involved in the Data Science community. Participation in the program consists of enrollment in a 1-unit seminar course, where Scholars will receive course help, participate in skill-building workshops, receive technical and career-focused talks from individuals in industry, research, and academia, and more.

We encourage students from all majors and disciplines to apply. The only requirement to be eligible for participation in this program is that you will be taking Data 8 (CS/Info/Stat C8) in the upcoming semester, or you have already taken Data 8. Priority for acceptance is given to students who identify as a member of one or more of the following groups:

o Low Income (Pell Grant or Dream Act Scholarship eligible as verified by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office)

o First Generation College Student (Parent(s) have not graduated from a four-year college or university)

o Historically under-represented ethnicities, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Applications open August 14th. Priority deadline Wednesday, August 23rd. Rolling acceptance after August 23rd.
