About the Workshop
This hands-on training introduces participants to the basics of semantic data and virtual
research environments using WissKI Cloud, Recipes, and Flavours. Participants will learn how to build their own semantic data management system without programming skills, manage and input data through the Drupal interface, and adapt the environment for their specific research needs — including support for 3D data. To ensure a practical and engaging experience, the organisers will provide ready-to-use datasets related to architectural heritage, which participants will use to record and model data within the WissKI instances they create during the session. The goal of the workshop is to make semantic technologies and FAIR data principles more accessible for researchers, GLAM professionals, and digital heritage practitioners who want to share, preserve, and structure their data sustainably.
💡 By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand the basics of semantic data and ontologies,
- Know how to set up a WissKI instance using WissKI Cloud, Recipes and Flavours,
- Learn data input and management directly from Drupal,
- Be able to customise their WissKI system for specific project needs,
- Know how to support and publish 3D data in FAIR-compliant way
