The District is required to produce pre-existing documents only.  It has no obligation to answer questions, offer information not contained in a document or create a new document.  Information in a computer database can be considered a document if the requested data can reasonably be sorted and extracted.  FOIL doesn’t require a district to fulfill requests outside these parameters.

Requests for voluminous records may be delayed.
