Come share your musical talent with senior residents in assisted living facilities! Earn SSL hours for your volunteering :)
UNMUTE is a unique
National 501(c)(3) non-profit and tax-exempt organization based in the U.S, founded and led by teenage student musicians since August of 2019.
1. We welcome all students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, as well as amateur college students.
2. All music levels and genres are welcome.
3. All virtual concerts are compilations of pre-recorded videos. No live events or in-person commitments are required.

Music Repertoire Requirements 🎻 *

1. Performers are welcome to perform
up to two (2) music pieces in each concert.
2. Each piece should be between 1-8 minutes long.
3. Please send us your video
before the deadline (if not in this form, then via email). For Saturday's concert, send in by Thursday at noon before your scheduled concert. **
Late submission may result in the removal of the participation and
no SSL hour will be awarded to the student.
4.
For MCPS (Maryland Montgomery County Public School) students only: we will NOT publicize student's names in the weekly Virtual Concerts due to MCPS's policy. We will publicize MCPS's student volunteers by listing their names as "MCPS student".

Video Submission Guidelines: Please follow! 📷 *

1. All video submissions must be age & content appropriate.
2. All video submissions will be reviewed and subject to approval or denial under the full discretion of our screening managers. All decisions made for approval or denial are final.
3. All volunteer musicians must dress appropriately to perform (Casual or recital attire is acceptable. No pajamas, sandals, or flip-flops).
4. You must show your face in your video performance.
5. When using a mobile device to record the performance video,
please tilt it to horizontal view for the best viewing experience.
6. Please allow for
3 seconds of silence in the beginning and ending of your performance video.
7. After the initial 3-second silence, we encourage you to greet the audience loudly and clearly by
introducing your name, and your piece! Example: "Hi, my name is XXXX (using your nickname is fine). Today I will be playing/singing/performing XXXXXX by XXXX. This music is about Spring. I have been practicing for you and I hope you enjoy it!"
Our senior residents love to hear your voice! Say something positive to cheer them up if you wish.
8. You may email us your music video via a link to YouTube, iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Amazon Drive.
9. IF UPLOADING TO YOUTUBE: please title the video as
(Student Name), (Piece) by (Composer), (Instrument) and make it
UNLISTEDExamples:
Zoey Ma, Salut d’Amour by Edward Elgar, Viola
David Smith and Sarah Johnson, Row Row Row Your Boat by Eliphalet Oram Lyte, Piano and Vocal
10. After you email us the link to your music performance video, please
do not delete it until AFTER your pre-signup concert schedule.
