Functional Communication Training (FCT) is widely used in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), but its effectiveness can falter if not properly implemented. Integrating families more comprehensively into the process is essential. Without equipping families to independently utilize FCT, the real benefits are limited.
If you find it challenging to teach families and foster connections, this course is tailored for you. It equips ABA practitioners with a thorough understanding of FCT, introducing a coaching model that diverges from the traditional Behavior Skills Training Model. This coaching model instructs practitioners on how to effectively guide families in applying FCT within real-life scenarios. Participants will learn to collaborate with families to analyze the causes of behaviors, select appropriate communication methods, and integrate FCT into daily routines.
Objectives:
1. Define Functional Communication Training and explain the necessity of the Coaching Model.
2. Identify suitable behaviors to modify and the corresponding responses, analyzing the underlying reasons for specific behaviors.
3. Navigate the implementation of functional communication training.
4. Ascertain the most fitting method or form of functional communication training for each client.
5. Comprehend and apply the coaching model.
