Merging Mind and Media
PROPOSAL DEADLINE APRIL 15
The contemporary art classroom is faced with old and new challenges. We continually strive to develop students who can manifest their ideas in materials and through processes that visualize personal and expressive voices. In our classrooms we invite students to use a variety of artistic media, symbols, and metaphors to communicate their own ideas and to respond to the artistic communications of others. Art teachers are faced with evolving and emerging technology, new perspectives on traditional media, and the need to explore combining approaches to art making. Though these Symposium workshops should present methods and materials that have been tried and tested in the presenter’s classroom, we seek fresh approaches, experimental and novel methods, and the introduction of innovative materials and processes.

Hands-on workshops are always popular. Sinks available in some workshop classrooms.
The Morning will include 4 extended workshops by 4 local Art Teachers
Lunch will be served from 12:00-1:00 at The Terrace, the registration site on campus.
Afternoon workshop sessions: 1:00-1:50, 2:00-2:50, 3:00-3:50.
Workshops last 50 minutes. A larger block of time can be accommodated.

Technology support will be available.
NYSATA will provide projector/screen/laptop equipment as needed - presenters should bring slide/media presentations on a flash drive. Presenters have option for bringing personal laptops - but are responsible for projector adaptors/connectors.

PLEASE NOTE: in order for NYSATA to maintain the approved CTLE professional development provider status, all workshop presenters must submit a full resume to be kept on file locally in the Region - even if they have previously submitted a resume as a presenter for a different event. See final question.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST STILL REGISTER FOR THE EVENT.
As a presenter your registration fee is waived and lunch is provided.
