ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP: The duration of the internship varies depending on the semester. The fall and spring internships align with university academic semesters, while the summer internship runs from May/June to late August/September. Fall and Spring interns are requested to work between 15 to 20 hours a week, while summer interns may work up to a full-time schedule (30 hours). Project based internships are also available. Internships are not paid, but college credit is available.
The "Special Projects and Event Management Intern" will assist in all aspects of event management. Avant-Garde Network hosts 50-60 programs annually. The Special Projects and Event Management Interns will direct and organize AGN events, develop campaigns to connect and strengthen the communities the company serves, assist with marketing strategies, sponsors and manage related brand communications; identify event locations and venues that are in line with AGN’s initiatives, programming and budget.
The "Marketing and Partnerships Intern" will help with a variety of tasks that vary from week to week. Tasks include conducting research on potential initiatives, partners, companies, and collaborators; assist the Special Projects and Event Management Intern logistics and day of event management and organization; and fulfill administrative tasks needed to help keep the campaign moving and department functioning.
The "Communications and Social Media Intern" will assist in all aspects of the department and will be fully integrated into the Communications team. As an intern you will participate in team meetings and events as well as have opportunities to gain experience in supporting the team in a wide range of communications and administrative functions. Duties may include: writing press releases, drafting stories from our monthly newsletter, assembling press kits, researching media coverage, compiling reporter information, clipping/tracking media coverage, compiling clips reports, and assisting with in-house press conferences and events.
The "Innovations Intern/Information Technology Intern" will assist with research studies and project management for the team. Innovations is a team that focuses on developing new digital tools to help people make our network more accessible and provide connectivity, ranging from mobile apps to full-service digital platforms, as well as conducting research to learn best strategies for funding entrepreneurs. As an intern, you will participate in meetings with internal teams and external partners; assist with day-to-day project management; develop content for mobile apps, online learning, and websites; and conduct other administrative tasks to support day-to-day management.
