If you have been published by us twice or more, we will consider your submission, but we are trying to make a higher percentage of space for new voices to HNDL, especially with much, much shorter issues these days. Devour2 will feature about a dozen artists and writers. 

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: This indie publication is run by people with multiple disabilities and chronic illnesses. Do NOT submit if you are not okay with a long timeline until publication (3-6 months tends to be average when working around poor health over the 3 years the magazine has been running). Please refrain from attempting to time your expected publication of this issue with any personal events, promotions, releases, holidays, announcements, etc. We kindly ask you to refrain from checking in about when the issue will be published. It simply will be published when fair health allows it to. You are more than welcome to withdraw your piece if it is published elsewhere sooner. We do allow previously published pieces, however.

^Preference for shorter pieces (around 300-500, but will absolutely consider longer ones, don’t worry!)

◾Other visual art

◾High quality, well-lit images of products for sale (art prints, keychains, button pins, tees, etc)

◾Food-related cosplay, OOTDs, makeup, etc.

◾Unique spins on recipes that tell a story, contain sarcasm or metaphor, etc.

◾Other unique submissions (film stills, art installations, etc). Pitch us your idea!

We are not seeking:

ⓧ Traditional food photography

ⓧ Traditional recipes

ⓧ Written pieces mixed with graphic design (clashes with consistency of chosen typography, alignment, color palette, etc for the issue)

ⓧ Overtly sexual pieces (innuendo welcome)

ⓧ Pieces containing any strong profanity or hate speech, even if censored 

GUIDELINES:

✓Please do not send PDFs of written pieces. We lose line spacing when pasting.

✓Please send an email to hndl.submissions@gmail.com with high-res attached images of your visual piece/s. When included in a PDF, we lose the high-res when saving or screenshotting.

✓Once again, no pieces with typography chosen by you, unless it is cut-and-paste within a collage.

✓ No WeTransfer or DropBox

FAQS:

- We are not able to pay at this time, but we are working hard on making this a future reality. Lead editor Izzy pays out of pocket for necessary subscriptions to make the mag, and does not have access to funding in any way at the moment.

- We allow previously published pieces and simultaneous submissions.
