11-4:00pm, join the Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life, The Women's Center, and Office of Equity and Diversity Education Team for an immersive half day teach-in for all invested in uplifting and advocating for trans, non-binary, and gender expansive communities.

11:00-11:45am - Lunch is served in the Beacon Room
11:45am-12:05pm - Opening Remarks by Mycall Akeem Riley & Ice-breaking/Grounding Activity, facilitated by Tisa Mitchell (she/her) & Dr. Kelly Collins (she/her) of the OED Education team
12:05-1:05pm - Presentation 1: Category Is: Human: a social understanding of humanity from a Black Trans Nonbinary perspective By Imana-Mamé Bioh (she/her)
1:05-2:05pm - Presentation 2: Listen Up and Listen Good: A Trans Student Dialogue by
Kiemora Kalley (she/her), Wes Samuelson (he/him)
2:05-2:55pm - Presentation 3: Queer Kinship By Rachel Phoenix (any/all) and Mycall Akeem Riley (any/all)
2:55-3:30pm - Closing Remarks & Setting Action Steps: Rick Hoops (he/they)
Participants will have the opportunity to move past surface level approaches of support to nuanced and critical framing. Topics examined will include intersectional trans frameworks, colonization and trans oppression, structural failures (and how to move past them), trans embodiment, and holistic wellness for trans folks.There will be two modalities; an in-person (123 SE Harvard St, Minneapolis, MN 55455) with lunch provided in the Beacon Room as well as a virtual option. If possible we'd love to have folks in-person but will provide a virtual option that will be intentionally curated for those in attendance, facilitated by the OED Education Team.
