Today most smart devices connect to the Cloud for ease of development, remote connectivity, and data storage. But this comes at the cost of latency, inability to work offline, unpredictable costs and compliance with data privacy laws like GDPR. So we set out to do something about it.
We built COCO: a decentralized, peer-to-peer, secure, private, easy to use (we think) software communications platform that enables app <-> app, app <-> device and device <-> device communication.
To test out that COCO is ready for mainstream usage, we have further created a Smart Home Kit that we call the “Developer Edition”. The COCO Developer Edition contains a Zigbee and Z-wave gateway and an assortment of Zigbee sensors. It's built for developers, by developers and you can catch a glimpse of it here.
