Sorrel Leaf Healing Center is excited to be offering a healing space for young people in Humboldt and our surrounding communities. We are currently looking for expertise from our community to support the development of our healing center. We encourage you to complete the survey to describe how you would like to be involved. We will be transparent with you in our process as we build our teams to move this work forward.

Mission: To provide deeply transformative, compassionate mental health interventions, including crisis residential care, for Humboldt and the North Coast’s young people.

While the workgroups are listed in siloed form for simplicity in recruiting support and defining goals, it is important to note that they will not remain this way. We believe the only way to create a holistic program is to truly collaborate, and we expect these workgroups to collaborate with each other. Which advisory work group(s) are you interested in?

Administrative: Works to develop sound business practices that allow for the sustainable operation of the healing center and to establish an ongoing structure for fundraising.

Clinical Services: Works to develop the clinical therapeutic model and service delivery system that will support young people and their support networks in healing through our short-term residential facility and mobile response team.

Medical Services: Works to develop policies around the medical and psychiatric management of Residents during their stay with us, including but not limited to safeguarding physical wellness and prescribing medication.

Direct Care Services: Works to identify service delivery around how enriching activities will be planned (art, music, movement, mindfulness, etc.), the development of Residents’ daily living skills, what their day will look like, and how the flow of the house will be managed.

Education Services: Works to develop a pathway to meeting Residents’ educational needs and to clarify our philosophy around education during short term treatment (under 30 days).

Nourishment: Works to develop our design and operational plan for the land to be utilized as a healing therapeutic space and a main source of food.
