Josef Eberle Scholarships can be awarded annually to three incoming German minors. Awardees will have another major (or may create an individualized major in German). The award is
$2,500 per year and is renewable each year, doubling in the fourth year for students who receive it as freshmen (for a total of $12,500 over four years), as long as the recipient makes regular progress in the German minor and maintains a B- average in German and overall.
This scholarship is added to existing financial aid and can be combined with the other Valpo scholarships for German students.
All students declaring German minors are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to students who:
- plan to study abroad on a Valparaiso University program in Germany for at least a semester.
- plan to live in the Kade-Duesenberg German House and Cultural Center (for non-commuters).
- AND/OR plan to earn teaching licensure in German with an individualized German major and Secondary Education minor at Valpo.
This application will remain open for the 2025-2026 academic year until all three scholarships have been awarded. (Students who applied by February 22, 2025 were informed of their status by March 1, 2025.)
