The Arts Club – Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award in association with Classic FM 2020
We are delighted to announce the sixth competition of our prestigious classical music award, in the wake of this year’s contest which was won by the highly accomplished classical accordionist, Giancarlo Palena.

The panel, chaired by Sir Karl Jenkins CBE, comprises music educationalist, Carol Barratt; Senior Vice President of Universal Classics, Mark Wilkinson; former Chief Executive at ABRSM, Leslie East OBE; acclaimed clarinettist, Emma Johnson MBE; prominent guitarist, Milos; and a senior representative from Classic FM. The consultation panel includes Emma Johnson MBE, Alison Balsom OBE, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Catrin Finch and Miloš.

The winner will be awarded the prize of £4,000 and will also have the opportunity to make a recording of a short work especially composed by Sir Karl, to be recorded in a London studio and played on Classic FM. The runner-up will receive a cash prize of £1,000.

Submissions will be reviewed by Sir Karl and Lady Carol in conjunction with the consultation panel. Twelve candidates will be chosen to compete in the first live competition round on Saturday 14th March, where candidates will be judged upon technique, individualism, communication and future potential, leaving just six finalists to perform in the final on Saturday 28th March. Both events will be held at The Arts Club, 40 Dover Street, London, W1S 4NP.

The deadline for submissions is midday Wednesday 5th February 2020.
