B.L.A.C Member Incentives- Earn a $1,000 stipend for the academic year.
- $450 for the fall 2026 semester.
- $550 for the spring 2027 semester.
- Become a published author.
- Learn about Black art, culture, and history.
- Receive feedback and support on your writing.
- Have a space to express yourself freely and creatively.
- Practice leadership and mentorship skills through tutoring younger students.
- Practice performing and speaking, and advocating for yourself and others.
Program Structure
Location: The Mix at the San Francisco Main Public Library (30 Grove St. Entrance)
Day and Time: Tuesdays in person from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Dates: Tuesday, September 15, 2026, to Tuesday, May 25, 2027
Program Requirements- Be enrolled in a San Francisco Unified School District high school.
- Tutor elementary students after school for one hour per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays at the 826 Valencia’s Tenderloin Center (180 Golden Gate Ave). Other tutoring options are at the Mission Center (826 Valencia St.) or Mission Bay Center (1310 4th St.) if that is more convenient.
- Attend meetings once a week and arrive on time.
Space is limited to 20 high school students. Once you submit your completed application, your 826 Valencia program leader, Andre, will be contacting you if you are selected to participate in the B.L.A.C. Thank you and good luck!Application Deadline: Friday, September 11, 2026
