Serenity Guinea Pig & Friends Rescue Foster Agreement

Thank you for opening your heart and home to fostering with Serenity Guinea Pig & Friends in Hamilton, Ontario! Your willingness to temporarily care for guinea pigs and other small animals is vital to our rescue efforts.

What We Offer Our Foster Families:

  • Comprehensive Medical Care: We cover all necessary veterinary costs at our trusted partner clinics, including check-ups, treatments, and any emergency care that may arise.
  • Adoption Expertise: Our team handles the entire adoption process, from screening applications to coordinating meet-and-greets. We're committed to finding the perfect forever home for each animal.
  • Ongoing Support: Our experienced volunteers are always available to answer questions and provide guidance throughout your fostering journey. If you require assistance with supplies, we can discuss options and potentially make arrangements to help.

Your Role as a Foster Parent:

  • Loving Home: Provide a safe, clean, and spacious environment for your foster pet. Regular cleaning and fresh supplies are essential for their well-being.
  • Social Interaction: Guinea pigs thrive on companionship. Dedicate time each day to interact with your foster pet, offering gentle handling and playtime.
  • Health Monitoring: Keep a close eye on your foster pet's health, noting any changes in appetite, behavior, or appearance. Contact us promptly if you have any concerns.
  • Transportation (as needed): Occasionally, you may need to bring your foster pet to our Hamilton location for vet appointments or adoption meetings. We'll work with you to arrange transportation if needed.
  • Regular Updates: Share your foster pet's progress with us every two weeks. Send photos, updates on their diet and behavior, and any questions you have. This helps us ensure they receive the best care and match them with the right adoptive family.

Special Note on Skinny Pigs: Due to their unique needs, skinny pigs may become permanent residents in your foster home. We'll provide ongoing support and guidance for their specialized care.

Important: All foster animals must be adopted through Serenity Guinea Pig & Friends. Please do not release them to anyone else before the official adoption process is complete.

We're so grateful for your compassion and willingness to open your home to a furry friend in need. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these animals. If you have any questions or are ready to start fostering, please contact us!
