Dear Principal/Coordinating Teacher,

We are pleased to invite nominations of highly accomplished, confident, and enthusiastic public speaking students from Years 5-12 to compere at In The Spotlight Dance Festival 2020.

Please complete a separate form for each student.

Nominated students should have strong public speaking skills and a demonstrated ability to:

∙ confidently address large audiences
∙ work as part of a team and/or autonomously
∙ work under pressure with a calm approach to the pressures of a ‘live’ public event
∙ be charismatic, enthusiastic and engaging to an audience
∙ competently pronounce difficult words and sight read with ease
∙ follow instructions and departmental protocol
∙ accept constructive feedback
∙ be committed and punctual
∙ be highly motivated and willing to learn
∙ be respectful, courteous and diligent
∙ be well groomed and wear their school uniform with pride


KEY DATES:
Thursday 9 April 2020 (Week 11, Term 1) - Nominations close.

Nominating teachers will also be notified.

Monday 15 June - Friday 26 June 2020 (Week 8 - 9, Term 2) - Festival Dates.
Compere's are required from 3:00pm - 9:30pm (approximately) for rehearsal and performance.

Venue: Everest Theatre, Seymour Centre, City Rd & Cleveland St, Chippendale NSW 2008

NB: They must be available during the festival dates, but will only be required for 1 or 2 of the 10 dates. Specific dates will be allocated after the selection process.

Please advise parents/guardians that each successful compere is allocated ONE complimentary ticket PER SHOW that they are hosting. This ticket will be left at the box office under the student's name for collection, but will be released for sale if not collected. Participation details will be provided once compere's have been selected.

Please also advise parents/guardians that the students are required to make their own way to the venue on all of the dates they have been allocated. They must arrive no later than 3:00pm in order to rehearse and will be required to be collected by a parent/guardian from the stage door at the conclusion of the show (approximately 9:30pm). During this time they will be supervised backstage by the Compere Coordinator working on that day. They will be provided a light dinner, but also might like to bring their own snacks and water.
