Testing Updates & Interest for Urban Ed TRP - Cohort 2 (SY 2019-2020)
In order to complete Illinois certification requirements during the residency year and as a part of the application process for the East St. Louis Urban Education Teacher Residency Program, all current candidates must take and pass the Illinois Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP). We understand that everyone may not have taken the test before now and will be preparing to take it in the near future. Illinois does accept a 22 on the ACT in lieu of passing the TAP test. Therefore, we need to get a clearer picture of your unique status.

In order to be exempt from taking the TAP, you have the option to retake the ACT by registering directly through ACT.org. The next date for ACT is April 13, 2019 that could be used as TAP replacement scores for Cohort 2.

TAP tests are offered daily through the Illinois Licensure Testing Sytem. The four test subset costs $113 and can only be retaken after 30 days. To take the TAP test, you can register at www.il.nesinc.com.

Please take a moment to complete this form. The Teacher and School Leader Staff will be in touch with those candidates with completed applications, proof of required test scores from testing agencies, uploaded transcripts, and whose transcripts have been reviewed by NLU to determine next steps. Thank you for your patience and for your interest in becoming a teacher resident.
