Our Mission: Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano guides local motivated students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in higher education to college graduation, by providing tuition-free academic programming and support from middle school through college. Serving as a Student Leader with Breakthrough is an intensive but rewarding task. Our Summer Student Leaders contribute directly to our mission by providing valuable community service and leadership that is critical to the functionality of our program and the success of our students. As a Student Leader, you will assist with a variety of tasks, from serving meals to making poster to engaging directly with our students.
Summer Student Leaders must:- Be a rising 10th - 12th grade student- Volunteer for at least one week, Monday - Friday, from 7:30 AM - 3:45 PM between June 10th and August 7th- Complete the online application by Friday, May 3rd- Attend one volunteer training date (May 20th or May 24th) at St. Margaret's prior to beginning your volunteer service- Have an ability to work with others that may be culturally and socioeconomically different from you- Serve as a positive role model to Breakthrough SJC middle school students- Appropriately relate to your volunteer peers, intern teachers and Breakthrough staff
