Please mark areas that you would be interested in volunteering with during the season.
Each gardener is expected to help during the season with general chores outside of these opportunities.
1. Each gardener is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of their garden plot. Watering, weeding, harvesting and any other garden related maintenance are all the responsibility of the gardener. Gardeners may arrange for other gardeners to water their plots.
2. Each gardener will have full access to the tools available in the shed but will be responsible to return all tools to the shed after they are completed using them. Supports and cages must be clean and returned at the end of the season.
3. Children are welcome in the garden but must be accompanied by an adult and must be supervised at all times.
4. Each gardener must complete a Release of all Claims form before any work in the garden can begin.
5. Garden plots should be cared for at least once a week. It is the gardener's responsibility to notify the coordinator if he or she is not able to care for their plot in any given week. If any plot remains unattended for more than three weeks that plot is subject to reassignment.
6. The application of herbicides (weed killers) to the garden plots is prohibited.
7. Preference for next year's plots will be given to this year's participants first.
8. Plot fees are due in full before the garden season begins, if assigned a plot you will be contacted to submit dues. For your first year, if you clear your bed in the fall the $25 fee will be waived for the next year. On your third year dues will resume at $25.
9. Gardeners may harvest vegetables and flowers from their garden only.
10. At the end of the growing season, gardeners are responsible for clearing their plot of all plant material and leaving the plot as they found it in the spring. While preference for plot assignment will go to existing garden members, assignment to the same plot each year is not guaranteed due to maintenance needs. Additionally, all garden beds will be cleared at the end of the year, and therefore gardeners should focus on annual plants over perennials.
11. The Garden Committee is responsible for ensuring that the rules are followed at all times.
12. A planting deadline will be shared with the gardeners to be determined each season. If you have not planted your garden by this date, the committee will reach out to check in on your plans and offer assistance if needed. If a gardener has not planted by this date and cannot be contacted, their bed will be offered to anyone on the waiting list. If there is no one on the waiting list the plot will become available for general use. The goal of this guideline is to assure our garden is being used to it’s full potential and to offer support for gardeners in need.
13. All gardeners will adhere to proper use of the watering tools (rain barrel or hydrant) at all times. Guidance on how to use these tools will be provided along with proper use to assure no water is wasted.
14. All gardeners are expected to commit 1 hour each month of “sweat equity” each month to the larger garden mission. This time is intended for work on the garden outside of your own plot such as, but not limited to: compost maintenance, weeding, organizing the tool shed, path maintenance, etc. A list of suggested tasks will be published in the tool shed.
