Official Playtesters for Oceans
We're looking for outside playtest groups to explore the next game in the Evolution series. If chosen, you'll be instrumental in polishing the most ambitious game our company has ever tackled. You'll also enjoy the game 8 months before its release.

Submit your name, email, and a little bit about your game group. We're expecting significantly more interest than we can accommodate so I can't promise your group will be chosen. Our goal is to choose 100 dedicated test groups who reflect the opinions and needs of the people most likely to purchase the game. Thanks for your interest!

Oceans has a simple turn structure and 10 straightforward traits, making it easy to learn all of the cards and wade effortlessly into the first game. The 10 traits were chosen because of the rich thematic interconnections and synergistic card play they provide. Additionally, there are 3 randomly chosen scenario cards that activate (and possibly deactivate) at various points during the game. The scenario cards impact the basic tenets of gameplay, encouraging people to vary their play style each game. This foundation loosely mimics a scientific oceanic ecosystem, similar to what you've come to expect from games in the Evolution series.

The first wave of playtesting will be to fine tune this foundation of Oceans gameplay.

The Deep
Oceans also includes a deck of cards that will break the seams of the scientific reality you've come to accept: The Deep. The Deep is a deck of 100 unique cards that require an additional cost to play. These power cards range from things you might find in nature to the fantastical Kraken or Leviathan.

The second and third wave of playtesting will be to fine tune the Deep.

Playtest Options
There are 2 ways to playtest Oceans.
- The first is to create a Print and Play prototype to play with friends around a table.
- The second way is to play on Tabletop Simulator with remote friends.
Print and Play
We will send a PDF of the Oceans Beta v1 to everyone who is chosen as a playtester. Chosen playtesters will need to do the following:
- Print, cut, and sleeve 80 cards
- Print and cut 30 Species Boards
- Print and cut 20 Scenario cards

Chosen playtesters will also need 248 Population tokens:
- 120 Population tokens of one color
- 32 Population tokens of another color (2-player games)
- 32 Population tokens of another color (3-player games)
- 32 Population tokens of another color (4-player games)
- 32 Population tokens of another color (5-player games)

You add an additional set of Population tokens for each additional player in Oceans. We've color coded them to make the setup easy, but if you're willing to count tokens at the start of each game then they can all be the same color.

At the beginning of December and January you need to:
- Print, cut, and sleeve 80 cards for the updated Ocean core deck (if needed)
- Print, cut, and sleeve 100 cards for the Deep

Tabletop Simulator
We have uploaded Oceans as a free game onto Tabletop Simulator. If you already own Tabletop simulator, you can play Oceans with remote friends who also have Tabletop Simulator.
