CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc. invites you to submit your ideas for presentation at the 30th Annual Midwest Stream Forum for Agricultural Worker Health to be held at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol in Austin, Texas on September 14 – 16, 2020. Abstracts must be related to agricultural worker health issues and should incorporate strategies, resources and/or tools with a focus on impacting workplace performance and improving healthcare access, service delivery, and addressing social determinants of health. We encourage workshops that address the healthcare needs of agricultural workers in all industries, including horticulture, animal production such as dairy workers, cattle farming, poultry, etc. and aquaculture.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Only proposals related to improving agricultural worker health will be considered. The primary areas of focus are: Emerging Issues for Mental Health, Diabetes - Control and Prevention, Social Determinants of Health, and Increasing Access to Health Care for Migratory and Seasonal Agricultural Workers. Topics of interest include: best practice models to increase access to care e.g. mobile services, integration of enabling services into service delivery, integration of dental and behavioral health into primary care, social determinants of health, obtaining required information/data in a culturally-competent manner, language access, individual and organizational cultural competency, performance improvement initiatives, best practices in medical interpretation, health literacy and patient engagement, health disparities, HIV, hypertension, diabetes, occupational health and safety, outreach/referral, substance abuse, opioid epidemic, family/domestic violence, women and men’s health, leadership/staff development, medical-legal partnerships, H-2A program, health center governance & administration, maternal and child health.

Complete the abstract proposal application, including: the session title, session description, 3 learning objectives (not included in word count), and audiovisual requirements. Descriptions longer than 300 words (1500 characters) will be edited to accommodate the conference program. Submit the proposal (preferably electronically) along with a resume or curriculum vitae and a short biographical sketch for each presenter to Sylvia Gomez at gomez@ncfh.org.

Presenters may be eligible for a travel stipend and waived or reduced registration. Presenters will be provided with additional information upon abstract acceptance notification. NOTE: Federal employees, HRSA/BPHC Cooperative Agreements and FHN organizations WILL NOT receive waived registration fees or travel stipends.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Oral presentations should address priority topics of special interest in the agricultural worker health community. Presenters are encouraged to deliver interactive and participatory presentations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
If more than one person is presenting, please identify the primary presenter on the application form. The primary presenter will receive all correspondence and will be responsible for sharing all information with their co-presenters. Please try to limit the number of co-presenters to one.

COMPENSATION
Primary presenter’s registration fee will be waived; co-presenters will be offered a reduced registration fee. Following the conference, primary presenters will be mailed a travel stipend based on need, as indicated on abstract form; amount (not exceeding $650) to be determined at the time of selection and includes up to 2 hotel nights at the conference hotel (amount may be shared between one or more presenters at their discretion). To receive a stipend, presenters must 1) indicate their stipend request on the abstract proposal form, 2) register for the conference, and 3) check-in at registration desk upon arrival. Travel arrangements, including hotel and airfare, must be arranged by presenters. Travel receipts may be requested.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Poster sessions should address new and/or innovative programs or research that advance the work of the agricultural worker health community. Oral presentations can also be submitted for poster presentations for added visibility. First time presenters and students are encouraged to submit poster abstracts.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Poster presenters must be at their posters during designated times throughout the conference to ensure discussion, networking, and one-on-one interaction between poster presenters and conference attendees.

COMPENSATION
Poster presenters will receive a waived registration fee. No travel stipend will be provided to poster presenters.

NCFH will provide a travel stipend for the primary presenter only. Federal employees, employees of organizations that are part of a HRSA/BPHC Cooperative Agreement, and Farmworker Health Network (FHN) organization employees are NOT eligible to receive the travel stipend.
