MNCodes Summit-Call for Proposals
On Saturday, May 16th, 2020, the MN Coding in the Classroom Cohort is hosting the fifth annual MNCodes Summit at the University of MN with the theme of "Networking to Expand Computer Science Education" #CS4All #MNCodes. Through hands-on and interactive sessions, our objective is to provide a space for educators to share knowledge, passion, and resources to empower all learners through computer science. Sessions will emphasize the integration of computer science across content areas as a way to build important lifelong skills for all learners. The MNCodes Summit draws educators, administrators, community education staff, lawmakers, and other stakeholders to join in our vision of making Minnesota a leader in computer science education!

Proposals for breakout sessions should relate to computer science, equity, creativity, collaboration, and integration across curriculum. Full-length sessions will last 50 minutes, and should be hands-on and/or interactive and include a challenge for attendees to complete toward earning Summit prizes at the end of the day. There is also an option to offer a poster session (a less formal opportunity to share with visuals or hands-on demonstration in an open setting with other poster sessions). If your session is focused on offering participants a chance to try out a specific kind of hardware, you may consider selecting the option to offer a drop-in session within the Hands-on Playground. Feel free to email andrea@codesavvy.org with any questions about the different kinds of sessions.

Proposals will be evaluated based on their relationship to the Summit’s theme of "Networking to Expand Computer Science Education" and how they may contribute to a well-rounded experience for attendees.

Projectors, extension cords and screens will be provided in all session rooms, but presenters must bring their own computer or tablet (with adapter cable, as needed). Please be prepared to share your presentation materials on our Summit website for participants.

Submission deadline: February 17, 2020 at 11:59pm

Review process: The MNCodes Summit leadership team will review proposals as they are submitted and inform proposers of their status by February 28th at the latest. Lead presenters will receive 50% off registration (only 1 discount per presenter).

Please see the MNCodes Summit Website for general information: mncodessummit.org
