Calendar Feedback for Draft School Calendars for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022
We are soliciting feedback on the DRAFT calendars developed for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.

It is important to hear feedback from parents and staff on the calendars being developed for the next two years. A final recommendation will be submitted for Board approval on December 19, 2019.

The district does not have much flexibility in setting calendar days for students as the school calendar for students is set following requirements in NC State Law. The calendar must include 185 days or 1,025 hours for students. The start date must be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and end date no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

You can see the full list of calendar requirements at this link: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/fbs/accounting/calendar/

The district currently follows the 1,025 instructional hour requirement for students to be in school, and not the 185 day requirement. The calendar must include 215 days for Teachers. This includes student days, annual vacation leave days (10), holidays (11) and teacher workdays.

All surveys will close on Tuesday, December 10th.
