Where do I go to check my assignments and class schedules?
Answer- All assignments and due dates are visible on Blackboard or on the syllabus of the class. To view your classes you can click on the My Courses tab on the right on the blackboard website and navigate through the tabs that the course has to check assignments and the class schedule. What are some resources that I can use to get extra help with my work? Where can I find these resources?
Answers- Students can attend office hours to clarify any misconceptions and confusions that they have with their work. Almost all professors hold office hours and the schedule can be seen in the syllabus on blackboard. Additionally, the University provides a free tutoring program called A+ Tutoring. What are some ways that I can keep up with the pace of my work?
Answer- Students have found that creating a calendar with your classes and due dates for assignments has been a great way of keeping up with work and making sure that everything is done on time. How do I find a major that is right for me and my interests? Where would I receive help?
Answer- Finding a major can be a difficult process for some people and may take more than a semester. This is totally fine! UAlbany's website has plenty OF support pages to help with this. One OF these pages is the Major Academic Pathways (MAPs) page which will help you find a place to start and look at what classes and different things you will be exploring in a select major. After this the "MUNCH WITH THE MAJORS" page gives detailed videos on almost all majors and helps give students an understanding on where to look. What should I do with my free time?
Answer- One of the perks of college is having a lot of unscheduled time in most cases. It is mainly up to you but your free time can include a variety of things like clubs, sports, studying/homework, self-improvement and most importantly...sleep! How do I join a club?
Answer- UAlbany has over 300 different clubs on the campus. If you want to know more about those clubs, you can go to this website called MyInvolvement.org. In this website, you can view all the clubs on campus and their information. If you are interested in joining a club, you will need to use your NetID and your password to sign in. After you sign in, you can search for the club that you are interested in and you will see “JOIN” on the top of your right-hand side of the page when you interact with that club. The Executive Board of the club will check your application after you apply. When they approve your application, your name will be added to the roster on this website and they will reach out to you. What should I focus on the most my Freshman year?
Answer- Your freshman year is your time to be learning what adaptations you may have to learn in order to be successful in college. Learn, master study tactics, make friends and relationships to help better your college experience. Reaching out of your comfort zone is a key takeaway from your first year of college, getting involved in clubs and events is a good way of starting this. Any follow up Questions?
How can I find more information about the class?
Answer-Before the class starts, the professor will provide every student with a document called a "syllabus" in blackboard. In this document, it will tell you all the information about the class, such as how to count the grade and the textbook that you will need to use for the class. This document is very important for every student. You must read it carefully before the class starts. Any follow up Questions?
What should I do if I have question about a class?
Answer-If you have any question about a particular class, you can make an appointment with your professor or your teacher's assistant so they can meet you during the office hours. If you require any immediate assistance, you may also send them an email so they can answer your question quickly. However, you have to follow the format which the professor gives you when you are writing an email. This is done by addressing them professionally using professor or Mr/Ms, using formal language and signing your name at the end of the email. Any follow up Question?
