Streets Alive! Ithaca Activity Registration
Streets Alive! Ithaca comes alive through scores of volunteers, participants, partners and street activities. The next Streets Alive! Ithaca will be held in the Southside neighbourhood Sunday Sept 25th 2016 1pm to 5pm on South Plain and Clinton Streets.

Note that the MAIN focus of Streets Alive! is a safe street closed to cars and open to people to walk, bike, roll, dance, play and interact with each other as a community. The organizers PRIORITIZE securing intersections and making SAFE STREETS for people. It must be safe enough for a parent with a four year old on a bike to feel completely secure that her child will not encounter a moving motor vehicle or any reckless activity. The organizers also need to comply with all city permitting requirements. SECOND priority are activities that encourage learning or practicing of skills that will inspire active transportation habits all year long such as bike rodeos, bike shares, learning how to the TCAT bus bike rack, etc. Other sorts of FUN and healthy activities are wonderful and make for a great day, so we are very glad for your interest!

Prepare for set up alongside the street but do not move anything into the street until given a go ahead at the start time of 1pm. Also have a plan to break down your activity easily and quickly before the streets reopen to moving motor vehicles at 5pm.

To host a fun, interactive street activity, please follow these guidelines:

1) Ensure your activity is active and congruent with the SA! themes of health, wellness, active transportation, inclusiveness and celebration of our neighborhoods and communities. With few exceptions, SA! is free of amplification.

2) MOVING activities that have no set location are very welcome. Just make a note of that in the application.

3) If needed, PROVIDE YOUR OWN TABLE, CHAIRS AND WEATHER-PROOFING (i.e. a canopy or tent.) SA! happens rain or shine unless weather is severe. It works wonderfully if you have a friend along the route who lets you set up in front of their house. If setting up for this event is problematic, let us know below; we'll see what we can do.

4) FLOW: At least half of the street on the main route must remain open, so people can move through the event.

5) NO direct solicitation of donations or sale of merchandise. ACTIVITY REGISTRATION IS FREE for approved activities offered by nonprofits, individuals, groups, or businesses. Groups or businesses wanting to promote products or services and/or to accept donations or sell anything can consider sponsorship at For quickest response, contact us directly at and put SPONSOR in the subject line.

Please share your information below, and we will get back to you with confirmation and/or any questions. As activity partners, also please encourage others to JOIN THE FUN by promoting Streets Alive! through your networks, newsletters, social media and word of mouth! It's a great idea to make your own Facebook event page highlighting your activity as part of Streets Alive (please send us the link too) Thanks so much!
