You may have heard the Spark (Oregon’s QRIS) process will be including Environment Rating Scales (ERS) as a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) support.

Our Spark ERS Assessment team is using the ERS tools to help support programs like yours. One or more Assessors from The Research Institute (TRI) at Western Oregon University (WOU) will be coming into the program. If more than one Assessor observes, it is to achieve or maintain reliability on the ERS tools.

We are looking for interested programs to volunteer to receive an ERS assessment for the purpose of Continuous Quality Improvement. We are in need of the following age groups to observe:

• Infants/toddlers (6 weeks to 30 months)
• Preschool (3-5 years)
• School-Aged (5-12 years)
• Family Child Care Programs (mixed ages)

TRI is offering a financial stipend of $150.00 for programs who are willing to volunteer to have a CQI ERS assessment provided in their program. These program assessments last about 3 hours with observers in the program space. Programs will also receive an ERS Assessment Summary Report, highlighting the program's strengths as well as some areas for growth opportunities.
