We are currently accepting expressions of interest into the Author Pen Pals Program from grades/years 2 to 6.
We're so excited to get this brand-new initiative up and running, but first we need a few details from you. Once you've completed and submitted the form, we will be in touch early next year to let you know what happens next and which author or illustrator you'll be pairing up with.
Since this is our first year and we currently have no idea of final numbers, we may adjust how the program is run so we can try to accommodate as many schools as possible. Every attempt will be made to assign one author or illustrator to every class that signs up, but, unfortunately, we can make no guarantee.
Please note: If you are signing up more than one class in your school that's absolutely fine, though please do complete a separate form for each class.
In the event that we have more classes than creators signed up, we may have to group together multiple classes from one school. We may also employ a waiting list system for 2023, but then prioritise for 2024 those who did not find a pen pal.
If you feel postage costs may be an issue for your school, don't worry. We have a plan for that so simply let us know below. We will keep this information confidential.
Remember, the website states minimal requirements, but if you want to write to your author or illustrator more often or even do things like Zoom calls or competitions, feel free. Author Pen Pals is about having fun and sharing the love of literacy, of which we believe there is no limit. One thing we know for sure, authors and illustrators love to receive post from children! Once the 2023 school year commences, we will be adding a page to the website with ideas for your class and how to get the most out of this opportunity.
