Helping in the Garden
Morningside Urban Market Garden or MUMG is a social enterprise which works alongside migrant and refugee background women to grow their market gardening and business skills whilst growing high value quick turnover crops for local cafes, restaurants and neighbours.
We offer a two year programme of learning and mentoring, at our Eden Park teaching garden.
During the first year the team develop and share their skills in the practical elements of urban farming and develop capacity to share these skills and experiences with others.
In the second year we introduce business mentoring and the team have an opportunity to mentor a second cohort before taking their skills into their own enterprises.
The women involved are encouraged to start their own enterprises before they leave the programme and produce from these gardens can be sold into the market MUMG has secured. The women also have the opportunity to work within the garden enterprise.
The team are in the garden on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings and are keen to meet other neighbours, and have a helping hand in the garden. We believe that everyone has something to offer and something to learn.
Share with us a bit about yourself and how you would like to be involved.
