Welcome to the registration page for Republic's Recreation Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) Workshop!

ABOUT

You're invited to a community workshop focused on outdoor recreation on May 19-20, 2026 to provide insight on how our city and surrounding area might:
  • Grow our outdoor recreation economy while maintaining our authenticity
  • Develop outdoor recreation infrastructure and amenities
  • Support development of main street and small businesses
  • Build on our existing brand to market outdoor recreation opportunities
  • Boost capacity and coordination for outdoor recreation and main street initiatives
This event is free and open to the public. The format will be interactive, engaging, and informative. Participants are encouraged to join for as much of the agenda as is feasible and everyone should feel comfortable coming and going as schedules allow.

Day 1 - Tuesday, May 19, 2026

The workshop will focus on several community goals. Please share any reactions or additions you have to the themes below.

  • Grow sustainablyBalance the growing recreation economy with the resource economy and protect what makes Republic and Ferry County special while also building opportunities to grow outdoor recreation offerings and main street businesses.
  • Develop outdoor recreation infrastructure and amenities. Identify and plan for additional infrastructure to connect residents and visitors with outdoor recreation opportunities, such as stations for bike repair along trails, access points to waterways, and others.
  • Support and Strengthen Businesses. Reinvest in main street infrastructure to enhance downtown vibrancy and increase amenities and support small businesses as they seek to tap into opportunities from the growing recreation economy.
  • Build on existing branding to market outdoor recreation opportunities. Build on existing outdoor recreation branding in the region to market our outdoor assets to residents and visitors alike.
  • Boost capacity and collaboration. Develop strategies to maintain and add capacity to coordinate outdoor recreation and main street activities.
