FROM THE STUDIO TO THE STAGE! Participants get a first-hand look at what it takes to start and finish a music composition, while understanding how the production side of things work. Using foundational tools in Hip-Hop like rapping and beatmaking, they will develop themselves through exercises that help self-esteem and teamwork in creativity -- activities like recording in the studio, constructing lyrics and elements of songwriting, and feeling the energy of performing on a stage are some of the ways that will build a solid foundation.
All levels accepted!
No musical experience required, just the willingness to learn and engage.

Yellow Fire started out as a community platform for Asian rappers in Vancouver, but since it’s inception, the collective has been building into a core group of prolific individuals who move as a unit. Guided by Scope, a Chinese Canadian rapper, producer and multidisciplinary artist, Yellow Fire is a multicultural and multilingual rap group. Finding comradery and passion, Yellow Fire represents the brotherhood and unity in everybody through music and community initiatives – come along as they take the world by storm!
Program Leader Bio: Scope (Gerry Sung), is a Canadian born Chinese rapper and producer based out of Vancouver. Having graduated from York University with a BA Degree in English and a BCIT Graphic Design certificate, Gerry eventually chose to create his own path and diverted from conventional ways. Perfecting his craft in music and visuals, combining a gritty rap flow and a sci-fi futuristic aesthetic, the Vancouver rapper fuses Hip-Hop, experimental, trap and boom bap elements through his music, along with high energy performances and stylized imagery. Having spent a decade pursuing Hip-Hop music as a rapper and producer, Scope has been moving into a more experimental and multidisciplinary approach, incorporating new media and technology. In recent years, he has been serving as a catalyst in the city as well, operating a music mentorship program for young and upcoming Asian artists at Yellow Fire Academy.
