Cognates are words that are similar in two languages.  However, these words are often spelled with slight differences and their pronunciation is often very different as well.  Click the audio and listen to the Model.  Notice the differences in pronunciation and spelling.  Then, read the numbered cognates and repeat the word imitating the speaker.
