My name is Dr. Alina Agiurgioaei Boie and I am a St. John’s University alumni. My colleague Dr. Fabian Agiurgioaei Boie and I would like to invite you to take part in a cross-cultural research study. This research is designed to explore the role Irrational Beliefs have in explaining/causing emotional distress. The study will gather and compare data from multiple countries around the world, including the United States, Romania, Turkey, Taiwan, Costa Rica, etc. Participation is voluntary. If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire packet.
While there are no direct benefits to the participants of the proposed study, it is anticipated that the potential findings of the study will provide knowledge of cross-cultural differences that will benefit mental health professionals. You should participate in this study only if you want to, and you may not answer to any question, if you choose so.
Confidentiality of your research records will be strictly maintained by coding all response forms and keeping them separate from consent forms to make sure that your name and identity will not become known or linked with any information that you have provided. Your responses will be kept confidential with the following exception: we are required by law to report to the appropriate authorities, suspicion of harm to yourself, to children, or to others. You may choose not to participate or withdraw at any time without any penalty. In addition, you have. Non-participation or withdrawal will not affect your grades or academic standing. You will be asked questions about different thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
