Corner Commons is a public space created with and for the Jane-Finch community and is located in the northwest corner of the Jane-Finch Mall. The space is open to everyone to enjoy, relax and hang out in all summer long!

This year's installation will be open to the public from July 20th to October 4th. 

From mid-June to mid-July, volunteers will be focusing on the building, painting, replanting, and other installation activities at Corner Commons. From mid-July to October, volunteers will assist with the maintenance of the space and stewardship of plants, as well as supporting with outreach, events and other community programming. In early October, volunteers will help with taking down Corner Commons for the season.

Please fill out this form if you are interested in helping out at Corner Commons this summer. Through this form, you will also be able to specify what tasks you'd like to support and your availability. Upon submission, we will reach out to you to set up dates and times for volunteering.   

Honorariums are available for all volunteer positions ($50 per shift; each shift is about 2-3 hours). These can be received in the form of a gift card (physical or electronic) or an e-transfer. Alternatively, community service hours are available for high school students who volunteer with us. 

All in-person outdoor volunteer work will follow public health and safety guidelines from the City of Toronto, Province, and the Jane/Finch Centre. All tools and equipment for volunteer activities will also be provided to you, along with training sessions to learn more about how to use certain tools and equipment.

Starting in mid-June, volunteers will be focusing on the building, installing furniture, painting, and replanting planters at Corner Commons. 

From July 20th to October 4th, volunteers will be helping with the overall maintenance of the space and plants, as well as supporting with events and other programming. 

From October 4th to 16th , volunteers will help with taking down Corner Commons for the season, cleaning up the site, and moving furniture into storage.
