Basic Components of Schedule

Sectionals (approx. 2 hrs/day) - Students will be in group A, B and C.  These groups will rotate between Acting Study, Dance Study, and Private Vocal Coaching (resulting in them spending two days in each group).  Acting and Dance sections will be conducted with a group. 
  • Voice Coaching Session 1 - 1st Vocal Selection
  • Voice Coaching Session 2 - 2nd Vocal Selection
  • Acting Session 1 - Contemporary Monologue Work
  • Acting Session 2 - Classical Monologue Work
  • Dance Session 1 - Basic dance moves and vocabulary
  • Dance Session 2 - Strategies for learning choreo quickly/learn choreo piecE
Lectures/Big Items - (approx. 2 hrs/day) - Students will attend a single subject lecture, roundtable or clinic to include the following subjects/areas of interest:
  • Program Orientation and Icebreakers (theatre games/team building exercises)
  • Voice: Musical Theatre Singing Technique
  • Voice: Acting the Song
  • Acting: Introduction to the Practical Aesthetics Acting Method
  • Acting: Script Analysis and Approaches to Cold Readings
  • Roundtable: Getting an Agent/How to Get Work (w/ Agent and Former Student/Working Actor)
  • Lecture/Clinic: Audition Technique & Making Audition Videos
  • Mock Auditions
Warm-ups (approx. 30 min/day) - Physical and Vocal warm-ups on alternating days, led by different faculty members each day for exposure to various approaches. By spending 30 min on either physical or vocal, students will understand how much warming up is actually required to be prepared to perform professionally.

Other Activities  (approx. 1hr/day) - Headshots, Audition Videos, Showcase Rehearsal (creating segments, rehearsing group selections)

Lunch (approx. 30 min/day) - Most lunches will be open: students may bring their own or go to a local place to pick something up.
Our final lunch will be all together so students can enjoy a moment breaking bread all together while talking about what they’ve learned through directed discussion and celebrating their achievement (1.5 hours).
