    ii. Proposed story brief

At Gistory we provide (500-word to 750-word) explanatory news briefs that contextualize an international or national news event. After the introductory paragraph, the remainder of the brief provides more context and nuances in sections that are based of the five Ws - “who, what, where, why, when” - and “how”. What makes Gistory unique, however, is that the sections aren’t broken down so simply. We turn the label of each section into a question - the question that would naturally pop into the readers' heads as they go through the news. Instead of having five W sections separated without much thought, we split and order the sections to provide the most important information at the top and then follow it with context and nuances. All of your information must be sourced with local, verified news publications, supplemented by your local expertise. To ground our briefs and make them accurate, we ask that you source your information as much as possible and hyperlink the sources where they belong in the text. Lastly, we aim for a writing tone that makes things clear and concise, the kind of tone you’d use to explain a story to a friend.
