Leadership Greater Madison-Great Civic Leadership Starts Here
Leadership Greater Madison (LGM) is a non-partisan, civic-leadership training program for Dane County residents and employees. The 11-month program includes a wide variety of hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that provide the education and skill training needed to prepare individuals from business, education, government and non-profit organizations for leadership roles in their community and in their work environment. LGM provides civic education on a variety of issues, including: local government; K12 schools; social services; neighborhoods; racial disparity; social justice; workforce and economic development; and the impact of the arts, culture and tourism. In addition to monthly program sessions, members develop team projects addressing an important community issue.

The non-partisan, objective nature of the program and connections with local experts, community officials and fellow class members provides participants with the opportunity for unique perspectives and insights of complicated community issues. LGM provides participants with valuable opportunities for capacity building, networking and collective impact. LGM strives for inclusivity, with participants coming from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Now in its 26th year, LGM has graduated more than 750 participants. Many are active community leaders. All are making a difference. Leadership Greater Madison is a joint effort of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce and Wood Communications Group.
