2019-2020 Awards Nomination Application and Criteria
SUBMISSION INFORMATION
• All applications must be submitted by 03/25/2020
• Must be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to nominate.
• Self-nominations are accepted.

Please note that winner selection will be opened to the AZAND membership, so your information will be shared with the membership. Contact information will not be shared.
Nomination Criteria
All nominees, with the exception of the OCGA, must be a current member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and first-time recipient for the award. Each award has additional and unique criteria listed below:

1. Outstanding Dietitian of the Year (ODY)
a. Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
b. Active participation in the national, state, or district association
c. Is a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
d. Not previously selected for this award in current or any other affiliate
e. Demonstrated leadership, e.g., in legislation, research, education, management, etc., in the Association, community or employment


2. Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year (RYDY)
a. Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
b. Age limit as of May 1 deadline, 35 years or younger.
c. Active participation in the national, state, or district association.
d. Is a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
e. Not previously selected as an RYDY in current or any other affiliate.
f. Demonstrated concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
g. Demonstrated leadership, e.g., in legislation, research, education, management, etc., either in the Association or employment.


3. Recognized Nutrition and Dietetics Technician of the Year (RNDTY)
a. Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
b. Is a Dietetic Technician, Registered.
c. Active participation in national, affiliate, or district association.
d. Not previously selected for this award in current or any other affiliate.
e. Demonstrated concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
f. Demonstrated leadership, e.g., legislation, research, education, clinical dietetics, food service management, public relations, career guidance, etc., in the association or employment.


4. Emerging Dietetic Leader (EDL)
a. Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
b. Initial practice experience not less than 5 years and not greater than 10 years. Interrupted careers or time periods not in practice, are not to be considered or rationed into the 5-10 years of professional practice experience.
c. Active participation in the national, state, or district association for at least 5 years.
d. Is a Registered Dietitian, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or Dietetic Technician, Registered.
e. Not previously selected as an RYDY or RDTY in your current or any other affiliate.
f. Demonstrated concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
g. Demonstrated leadership, e.g., in legislation, research, education, management, etc., in the Association, community or employment.


5. Outstanding Contributions to Goals of AZAND (OCGA)
a. Individuals who have contributed significantly to the goals of the association through their work (i.e. media personnel, legislators, or other health care providers).
b. Not eligible for AND membership (i.e. not an RDN, DTR, or ACEND student).
c. Up to three awards available.

6. ODSA (Outstanding Dietetic Student Award)
a. Students must be members of the Academy by January 1st of the year they would receive the award.
b. Student enrolled in ACEND-accredited dietetics education program (CP, DI, DPD, DT). One award per program type available.
c. Demonstrated academic achievement as documented by letters from program faculty or preceptor.
d. Demonstrated leadership and professional potential; e.g., honors, student dietetic association activities, community service activities, etc.
Recognition
Winners will receive a certificate from AZAND, a tangible gift, listing in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and waived registration fees for AZAND Annual Meeting.
