Junior Theatre Festival
What is JTF?

Junior Theatre Festival is a "rousing celebration of theater" where thousands of kids ages 8-18 get to come together for a mix of adjudications (performance with feedback), workshops, and unique performances by Broadway’s best. In addition, there are awards, dance parties, and activities. Past performers for the concert include Megan Hilty, Pasek & Paul, Cynthia Erivo, Caissie Levy, and Lindsay Mendez.

When is JTF?

Junior Theatre Festival is a 3-day festival in Atlanta, Georgia. The dates are January 17-20, 2020.

How much does JTF cost?

We are not yet able to give a final total cost, as we do not have a definite number of people going and we cannot yet get a quote on airline tickets.

Tentative cost is $700. This will cover festival registration and fees, 7 meals, flight, hotel, and Atlanta transportation. There will be a $100 deposit upon registration. There will then be monthly payments of $100 due on May 14 and the 7th of each month from June through October.

We are currently pursuing fundraising and sponsorship opportunities. In addition, we anticipate being able to offer scholarships for those students with economic need.

When are auditions?

All students who register will be part of our JTF group.

Auditions, which are only to determine character assignments, will be Monday and Tuesday, August 5-6, 2019, from 10am-1pm at the Granbury Opera House (133 E. Pearl Street).

When are rehearsals?

We only have 12 rehearsals to put this show together.

Rehearsals will be:

· Tuesday, September 10 (7-10pm)
· Tuesday, October 1 (7-10pm)
· Tuesday, October 22 (7-10pm)
· Tuesday, November 12 (7-10pm)
· Monday, December 16 (7-10pm)
· Friday, January 3 (7-10pm)
· Saturday, January 4 (10am-1pm)
· Tuesday, January 7 (7-10pm)
· Friday, January 10 (7-10pm)
· Saturday, January 11 (10am-1pm)
· Tuesday, January 14 (7-10pm)
· Thursday, January 16 (6-8pm) – send-off with family and friends invited to watch the performance

Ensemble and teamwork are major components of JTF. If a student misses more than 2 scheduled rehearsals, they will unfortunately not be able to perform although they may still attend the festival. If a student does miss any rehearsals, they do need to get with the production team to go over what they missed before the next rehearsal date.

The final 4 rehearsals in January are mandatory.

Are we definitely going to JTF?

Our group registration is currently "waitlisted" meaning that we are not officially registered until a spot opens up.

However, it is very likely that we will get to go. Others who have gone have indicated to us that the waitlist is a formality and that most groups end up attending.

In the unlikely event that our group registration is not accepted and we are not able to attend, any money collected or raised can be applied either to future academy class/camp registration or for JTF 2021.
