Saturday Sampler is an outdoor workshop for professional movement based artists that draws from my choreographic practice and current curiosities. Come explore my own approaches to composition, performing and improvisation, find something you like and take it with you! Experiments will include:
- Integrating our inner and outer dancer through visualization
- Examining our relationship to choreography
- Accessing an intuitive approach to composition
Beth Gill is a choreographer based in New York City since 2005. Combining experimental and traditional approaches, she makes formal and exacting works centered around acts of obsession and transformation. Gill is the proud recipient of multiple awards: Herb Alpert, Doris Duke Impact, Foundation for Contemporary Art and two “Bessies”. At 40 years old she has produced six commissioned evening length works met with critical acclaim. She has toured nationally and internationally and been honored with (among others): Guggenheim Fellowship, NEFA’s National Dance Project grant, Princeton’s Hodder Fellowship and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Extended Life Artist in Residence.
Masks will not be required for class IF everyone in attendance agrees to a masks-optional class during an eyes-closed, anonymous vote at the beginning of class.
If class cannot be held due to inclement weather, this class will be rescheduled for another time when we can gather outside. No Zoom!
Class is reachable by public transportation and in close proximity to an accessible train station. There are not steps at the location. Prospect Park's Concert Grove Pavilion are on solid ground. Please be in touch at
