Energy Justice Summer Fellowship Application
Energy Justice: Shale Initiative fellows will live and work together in a four bedroom sustainability house in Scranton, PA. They will engage with students and other outside constituencies and support the direct needs of communities on the frontlines of shale gas extraction and related infrastructure throughout northeast Pennsylvania. Our team works as a cooperative, which makes personal accountability a must.

TERM: The EJSI summer fellowship lasts from June 2015 through August, 2015, part-time 20 hours per week, with a possible extension depending on funding.

COMPENSATION: Room, board, and public transit to Scranton (if needed) is provided.

DEADLINE: Applications will be accepted until midnight, June 5th.

Organizing Fellow
We are seeking a self-driven candidate with strong interest in education, outreach, recruitment, social media, and student/ rural community organizing.

Our current campaigns include fighting a gas pipeline, a 1500 megawatt gas power plant, a landfill expansion that accepts drill cuttings, and supporting Dimock families as they take their water contamination case to federal jury trial.

Responsibilities Include: booking speaking engagements on college campuses for our Frack University (www.fracku.org) program, presenting workshops on organizing skills, phone banking, mailings, tabling at community events, leading door to door canvassing, organizing community meetings, planning leadership retreats, and helping people make public comments on gas facilities.
The fellow will create content to build our online audience via social media as well as engage traditional media. Work might include: writing press releases, developing press kits, coordinating community members’ letters to the editor, updating our website and writing blog posts, creating written and graphic content for our social media, drafting online petitions, managing crowdfunding campaigns, and creating/ designing information and promotional materials.
