Welcome to CEC's Climate Stewards certification program, offered exclusively on the Central Coast by the Community Environmental Council (CEC). The course was developed by and is presented in partnership with the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources and focuses on Central Coast efforts to address and alleviate climate impacts, build support for a rapid and equitable transition to clean energy, and provide participants with resources and opportunities to become part of this movement. As a graduate you will be equipped to play an active role in the regional and statewide efforts to advance rapid and equitable solutions to the climate crisis in your community – and make a positive impact throughout the Central Coast. The next course starts on September 11, 2024.
Students meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:30 pm PST from September 11 to October 30, 2024. Class sessions are held online via Zoom and there are 2-3 weekend in-person field trips. There is one prep week without class session during the course (see syllabus for details).
The course fee is $300 and covers the cost of instructor and TA time, as well as UCANR course fees. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for those who express financial need and meet certain criteria.
The instructor for this session will be Kathi King, CEC's Director of Climate Education and Leadership.
