We, the undersigned, write in support of Senate Bill 31 by Senator Cleo Fields.

This legislation would help to protect teachers from being unfairly penalized for circumstances beyond their control​. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced schools to shift away from traditional education without proper time to prepare. Students did not have equal access to resources and teachers had to scramble to figure out ways to keep children engaged in the learning process. Standardized testing scores will inevitably be impacted by the events of 2020, but that should not be used to penalize good, hard working teachers who are dedicated to their student's education.

If implemented, this legislation would have a positive impact on our teachers and their students.
