*NOTE: The First VP will notify Chair, Co-Chair and Committee volunteers of their assignments. The PTA will send out sign-up sheets for General Volunteers closer to event dates. Room Parent sign-ups will also be sent separately.

EVENTS
PTA Events (not intended to generate funds)
Halloween Play
Date: October 31st– Duties: Select a Halloween themed play and organize parents to perform for the students.
Snowball Dance
Date: Feb 2nd OR alternate date: Feb 9th – Duties: Send invitations, plan decorations and DJ/music. Organize volunteers.
Talent Show
Date: Rehearsal Feb 28th and Show March 1st – Duties: Approve student acts and music. Collect student permission slips. Organize final rehearsal and show. (Students prepare and rehearse acts on their own time.)
Aquatic Night
Date: March 3rd (subject to change due to pool availability) – Duties: Reserve the Oak Brook Aquatic Center for Family Aquatic Night. Plan and purchase snacks.
Staff Appreciation Week
Date: May 7th- 11th – Duties: Plan school decorations, treats, etc. for teachers and staff throughout the week. Plan staff luncheon. Organize volunteers.
Field Day
Date: June 5th – Duties: Work with Chair to plan game stations, set rotation schedule for student teams and organize volunteers.
FUNDRAISERS
Events or Services intended to raise funds.
Rainbow Run/Family Fun Night
Date: Sept. 22 – Duties: Committee will work with teachers/staff to plan event. Organize volunteers for Run, ice cream, games, pizza, face painting, etc
Plant Sales
Duties: Collect order forms, place order, arrange for order pick-up.
Bake Sale
Duties: Bake sales will be held on election days. Request cash box from treasurer. Setup and decorate table in front of library the day before sale. Set prices for baked goods. Return cash box and deposit slip to treasurer.
Scholastic Book Fair
Date: November 16, 17, 20 – Duties: Work with Chair to coordinate setup of books. Organize volunteers.
Hot Lunch
Date: Ongoing, once a month – Duties: Plan, order and serve participating students a hot lunch. Organize volunteers.
Box Tops
Date: Ongoing – Duties: Collect and submit Box Tops. Post progress of collections. Create/plan incentives for students (pizza party, etc – to be approved by Ms. Gorman)
Dinner Out
Date: Ongoing – Duties: Arrange for local restaurants to donate a percentage of sales from Blythe families on scheduled days to the PTA.
Family Movie Night
Date: TBD – Duties: Choose/acquire movie (with PTA Board approval). Plan/purchase/sell snacks at sale table during movie. Request cash box from treasurer before the event. Return cash to treasurer with deposit slip.
PTA Sponsored Classes
Date: Ongoing – Duties: Work with PTA Board to determine classes, dates and find/hire instructors (instructors must supply background checks).
Spa Day
Date: TBD Winter Date – Duties: Contact Brennan Spa in the fall to coordinate a spa day during the winter. Plan/purchase snacks for participants. *Brennan Spa will organize signup and collect fees.
SERVICES
Services the PTA provides (not intended to generate funds)
Kindergarten
Dates: Summer 2017 and August 24th at 2pm – Duties: Park Playdates (summer) – Schedule playdates at Blythe playground for incoming Kindergarten students to get to know each other before school begins. Kindergarten Meet and Greet (Aug. 24th, 2pm) – Arrange snacks and goodie bags for "meet and greet" on first day of school.
Special Needs Liaison
Date: Ongoing – Duties: Attend quarterly meetings with the District Special Education Director and other school liaisons.
Bulldog Yearbook
Date: Ongoing – Duties: Work with Chair to guide students in writing articles, headlines and captions for yearbook. (Strong writing skills a plus!) Meetings held after school, once a month or every other month (to be determined by chair and co-chair). First meeting will be held in September.
Fitness Program
Date: Ongoing – Work with Physical Education teacher to schedule and hire two speakers to present fitness demos to students during their gym time. Organize and execute a Bike Rodeo (A clinic to teach children the skills and precautions to ride a bicycle safely). Organize ACES Walk (Students walk one mile around the neighborhood during the lunch/recess period)–organize volunteers to chalk sidewalk along the route and walk with students.
PTA Reflections Program
Date: November – Duties: This is a PTA sponsored art contest where students create original artwork on their own time in one of six categories. Promote and encourage students to participate in this program. Collect and then submit student artwork to the District for judging. Order and award participation ribbons. Six Flags – Reading Incentive Program
Date: Dec-Feb – Duties: Collect and submit reading logs for students to earn a free admission ticket to Six Flags Great America. Distribute tickets to students.
Raging Waves – Fitness Incentive Program
Date: Feb-April – Duties: Collect and submit fitness logs for students to earn a free admission ticket to Raging Waves Waterpark. Distribute tickets to students.
Fun Lunch
Date: Feb. 9th – Duties: The PTA makes and serves all students lunch at no cost to their families. Plan menu (for entire school), theme and decorations for the gym. Organize volunteers to set-up and decorate the gym, make lunch, serve lunch and clean up after the event.
Fourth Grade
Quilt – Chair will provide supplies to fourth grade teacher. Responsible for having the quilt finished. Directory Art – Chair will provide supplies to fourth grade teacher. Collect finished artwork and submit to PTA Board.
Fifth Grade
Safety Patrol Snacks – Work with teacher/staff safety patrol coordinators to schedule snacks/pizza party for safety patrol students. Games Night Reps (2) – Go to Games Night meeting, organize games night snack for Blythe 5th grade students, bring stacking cup game to Hauser on games night. Games Night T-Shirts – Coordinate design and order t-shirts for Blythe 5th grade students in time for Games Night. ***Games Night is a district-wide event at Hauser for all 5th Grade students on April 6th from 5:45pm-8:30pm
