WAVES grants offer up to $500 per course (see Guidelines below) with the intention of supporting undergraduate service-learning projects that think out of the box to provide a more transformative learning experience through public service. This is a very limited fund. Preference will be given to projects that match our strategic goals or utilize best practices in service learning, such as projects that• Offer a transformative learning experience• Use innovative and intentional approaches for social change• Work with community partners as co-educators• Fully integrate the service within the course itself• Engage students in dialogue around issues of power, privilege, and diversity as encountered in the community.
Faculty may use these funds toward expenses related to the service learning course, including but not limited to: • The production of a final product of work (i.e. publication of written works produced by students and partners; materials created by students for the community partner's benefit, etc.), • Supplies towards a final product of work with direct community benefit (i.e. art supplies, water testing equipment, etc.), • Field work expenses
